James Bond: Turner, Lowden and O’Connor in final screen tests
Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O’Connor are among the actors taking part in final screen tests for the next James Bond film, according to reports. The auditions are taking place this weekend, possibly starting as early as Friday, with between three and five actors reaching the final stage of the casting process for Amazon MGM Studios.
Final Auditions and Selection Process
The screen tests evaluate finalists across three distinct components: stunts, camera presence, and dialogue. Deadline reported that the auditions were originally scheduled for early October but faced delays due to scheduling conflicts. Variety noted that Turner and Lowden appear to be strong contenders to replace Daniel Craig, while reporting that Slow Horses star Lowden may be edging ahead in the casting process. Masters of the Air star Turner drew speculation earlier this year, and The Crown star Josh O’Connor is also reported to be among those testing.

Other names previously linked to the role include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, James Norton, and Paul Mescal. Sources indicated that Jack O’Connell was previously thought to be in contention but may no longer be involved, while Euphoria star Jacob Elordi is not participating in the tests. Amy Pascal, one of the producers for the upcoming film, stated in August that the end of the year is a likely timeframe for casting news, describing the search as methodical.
Denis Villeneuve Will Direct 2028 Film
The forthcoming film is scheduled for release in 2028 and will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. Steven Knight wrote the script, stating in September that the first draft was complete. Amazon acquired MGM for $8.5 billion in 2021, securing distribution rights for the franchise and additional creative control over its future.
