New york knicks guard Jalen Brunson will return to the lineup Wednesday night when the Knicks face the Dallas Mavericks, ending a week-long absence due to a right ankle sprain.
Brunson’s return provides a notable boost to a Knicks team currently 8-5. His absence forced adjustments to the team’s offensive flow, and his presence is crucial as New York navigates a competitive Eastern Conference. The Knicks, aiming for a deep playoff run after last season’s appearance in the Eastern Conference finals, rely heavily on Brunson’s scoring and playmaking.
The injury occurred November 12 during a 124-107 loss to the Orlando Magic, sustained on a drive to the basket with under two minutes remaining. He was subsequently sidelined for two games against the Miami Heat and underwent daily evaluation.
This is not the first time Brunson has dealt with an ankle injury. Last season, he sprained the same ankle, missing 15 games. Initially projected as a two-week recovery, the injury kept him out longer before he returned for the playoffs. He experienced some re-aggravation during the first round of the postseason but played through it as the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference finals.
Entering Wednesday’s game, Brunson is averaging 28 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
