Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung urged residents to maintain the capital’s stability and security during a Ramadan Safari visit to the Al Hamid Putra Islamic Boarding School in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, according to a statement released Sunday.
The Governor, accompanied by the Pangdam Jaya, the Regional Police Chief, and members of the Jakarta Forkopimda, met with Ulama and Umara from across Jakarta at the invitation of the Jakarta PWNU. Pramono expressed gratitude for the existing harmony within the city and emphasized the need to preserve it, particularly in light of the current unfavorable global situation.
Pramono specifically warned of potential disruptions to global transportation routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz, and the resulting impact on Jakarta’s supply chains and prices. “Disruptions on these routes have the potential to cause price increases and disrupt supply chains,” he stated. He called for a unified effort from all segments of society to safeguard Jakarta, especially as the Eid al-Fitr celebrations approach.
The Governor also underscored the importance of ensuring the “steadfastness, comfort, safety, joy, and happiness” of Jakarta’s residents. His remarks came as the Jakarta Provincial Government launched the Jakarta Ramadan Festival at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, featuring a performance by approximately 1,300 tambourine players accompanying Ramadan songs and hymns. The festival is scheduled to continue through Eid al-Fitr.
Pramono announced a latest initiative, “Mudik to Jakarta,” aimed at encouraging residents to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the capital. To support this, the provincial government plans to offer tax incentives, various discount programs, and free public transportation throughout the Eid period. “The Jakarta Provincial Government will provide tax incentives to encourage various discount programs in Jakarta. Transportation will be free during Eid al-Fitr so that all residents can celebrate together,” Pramono said.
