J. Cole & Cam’ron Address Lawsuit Over “Ready 24” + Drake & Kendrick Feud
The legal dispute between rappers J. Cole and Cam’ron over the 2024 track “Ready 24” publicly aired on Monday, as Cam’ron posted a clip of a conversation with Cole addressing the lawsuit he filed in October 2025. The suit, alleging unpaid compensation for his contribution to the song, initially sought $500,000 in damages, prompting a countersuit from Cole in February seeking dismissal of the claims.
In the preview of the interview, set to premiere in full Tuesday on Revolt’s YouTube channel, Cole admitted to an initial emotional reaction to the legal action. “When the lawsuit came out, I was like, ‘Come on Cam,’” Cole said, adding that his first instinct was frustration, but quickly followed by understanding. He acknowledged Cam’ron’s perspective, stating he could witness how a perceived lack of response would lead to pursuing legal recourse to secure what was promised. XXL Magazine reported on the exchange.
However, Cam’ron revealed a different motivation behind the lawsuit, characterizing it as a calculated move to gain Cole’s attention. “Of course it was never gonna go anywhere, but for me it was like, ‘I need to get this ni**a attention,’” he stated. This admission casts the legal challenge as a publicity tactic, designed to force a dialogue with Cole regarding the collaboration. National Today also detailed this admission.
The origins of the dispute trace back to Cole’s 2024 album, “The Fall Off,” where “Ready 24” appeared. Cam’ron’s feature on the track, recorded in 2022, became a point of contention when he felt he wasn’t adequately compensated, according to Yahoo Entertainment. Cole reportedly offered an interview as a substitute for monetary payment, a proposition Cam’ron accepted, ultimately leading to the conversation now being released in segments.
The interview also touched on the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, with Cole sharing his perspectives on the high-profile rap battle and his current interactions with both artists. Details of those conversations were not immediately released, but are expected to be included in the full interview airing Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, March 24, the full conversation between J. Cole and Cam’ron remains unpublished, leaving the long-term implications of their discussion – and the status of Cole’s countersuit – unresolved.
