Philadelphia, PA – The University of Pennsylvania‘s women’s and men’s tennis programs have been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their academic achievements. The ITA announced its 2024-25 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Monday, July 21, with both Penn squads earning All-Academic Team status. Additionally, a total of 18 Quakers, nine from the women’s team and nine from the men’s team, were individually honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The women’s team honorees include Sasha Motlagh, Saige Roshkoff, gavriella Smith, Lara Stojanovski, Liza Tkachenko, Maya Urata, Esha Velaga, Eileen Wang, and Sarah Wang. The men’s team recipients are Parashar Bharadwaj, Shaurya Bharadwaj, Sanjeev Chundu, Luka Butera, Justin Chung, Stephan Gershfeld, Manfredi Graziani, Matthew Rutter, and Aaron Sandler.
The ITA All-Academic Team award acknowledges programs that maintain a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.00 scale, based on student-athletes listed on the institutional eligibility form. All varsity letter winners’ GPAs are included in this calculation for the current academic year.
To qualify for the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes must achieve a grade-point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and be listed on their school’s institutional eligibility form.
