London – Singer Jessie J has revealed she received an all-clear from cancer and is embracing motherhood alongside partner channing Tatum, detailing her experiences in a new interview coinciding with the release of her album, Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time. The artist discussed navigating grief, the unique bond formed through parenthood, and her outlook on life following a health scare.
Jessie J, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, describes her latest album as a chronicle of her journey through grief, though it predates the arrival of her son. While the album concludes with optimistic tracks like “Living My Best Life” and “H.A.P.P.Y,” it doesn’t yet reflect the joy of motherhood. She anticipates exploring this new chapter on her next record, stating she has “never loved in the way she loves Colman,” and describing birthing Tatum’s child as “forever engraved in our relationship” due to the visible physical connection in their son.
The singer was diagnosed with cancer but has since been given the all-clear, acknowledging the possibility of recurrence. Despite this uncertainty, she maintains a determinedly positive outlook. “I’ve just got to hope it doesn’t come back,” she said, “And if it does, then we’ll fucking deal with that when we get to it.” Jessie J is currently focused on motherhood, touring, writng, recording, and even exploring stand-up comedy.
Jessie J’s new studio album Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time is out now.
