Israeli Attacks Kill Multiple Palestinians in Gaza Despite Ceasefire Efforts

September 19, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip killed at least four Palestinians, including a child and the eldest son of Gaza’s Ministry of Health director general, according to medical officials and civil defence agencies. The strikes occurred during incidents documented on Friday and Saturday, adding to casualties recorded since a ceasefire arrangement was announced in October 2025.

Strikes in Northern and Central Gaza

Basir al-Bursh, the eldest son of Gaza Ministry of Health Director General Munir al-Bursh, was killed in a drone strike in the az-Zahra neighbourhood near Jabalia in northern Gaza, according to medical and civil defence reports. The younger al-Bursh was struck by a drone missile as he exited a tent while attending classes at alternative learning spaces operated by local organizations.

Reporters secured video recordings and accounts from witnesses that captured the health ministry director transporting the remains of his son to a medical facility. The Gaza Health Ministry subsequently issued a statement expressing condolences to al-Bursh and his family.

Additional casualties occurred across the territory over the weekend. A Palestinian girl died from injuries sustained in Israeli gunfire north of the Nuseirat refugee camp on Friday, according to hospital announcements. In central Gaza, a woman and another individual were reported wounded in separate incidents.

Gaza’s civil defence agency reported that an Israeli drone hit a civilian car in the Sheikh Radwan market neighborhood of Gaza City on Saturday, resulting in one fatality and leaving a minimum of four others injured, among them two minors. The vehicle burned for approximately thirty minutes before emergency crews extinguished the fire, and one body with severe burn injuries arrived at al-Shifa Medical Complex.

Another person was killed in a separate strike on the Shujayea neighbourhood east of Gaza City on Saturday. The ongoing operations follow broader military actions in the territory that have resulted in at least 1,390 additional Palestinian deaths since October 2025, according to available reports.
