Ismael Miranda Returns with a Song of Gratitude and Resilience
Salsa legend Ismael Miranda is back with new music, reaffirming his commitment to singing despite recent health challenges. His latest single,”Siempre Cantaré” (Always I Will Sing),will be available on digital platforms starting November 21st.
The song, a composition by Juan José Hernández featuring a collaboration with Gilberto Santa Rosa, serves as a heartfelt tribute to Miranda’s remarkable 50+ year career. From his early beginnings as a percussionist and vocalist with New york vocal groups at age 11, to recording his first professional album at 17 with Joey Pastrana (following earlier appearances with pipo y su Combo and Andy Harlow’s sextet), and becoming the youngest member of the iconic Fania All-Stars at 18, Miranda has been a cornerstone of the salsa genre.
“This song is my way of thanking everyone who has been with me. As long as I have a voice, even if it is a whisper… I will always sing,” Miranda stated.
The release follows a period of health struggles that required surgery and hospitalizations, keeping him away from the stage.Despite ongoing physical consequences, Miranda returned to the studio with unwavering determination and honesty.
“Siempre cantaré” is produced by Víctor Manuelle, a frequent collaborator. The pair previously worked together on “Son 45,” an album celebrating Miranda’s 45th anniversary in music, which yielded the Billboard Tropical #1 hits “Bajo, piano y bongó” and “Son 45,” and earned a Latin Grammy nomination.
The new single is being described as both an act of love for his fans and a poignant reflection on a life dedicated to music – a gift to his audience and a party of his enduring legacy, even as it marks a closing of one chapter. Ismael Miranda, a vital figure in the history of salsa, continues to share his voice with the world.
