Arrest Warrant Issued in Knife Attack on Herdecke‘s Mayor-Elect iris Stalzer
Herdecke, Germany – The Hagen public prosecutor’s office has issued an arrest warrant for the 17-year-old adopted daughter of Iris Stalzer, the recently elected mayor of Herdecke, following a life-threatening knife attack earlier this month. The warrant cites dangerous bodily harm as the primary charge and is intended to facilitate collaboration with youth welfare services, though it does not necessitate imprisonment.
The attack on Stalzer, a member of the SPD, shocked the town of 23,000 located in the Ruhr area.Initial concerns about a politically motivated assault were quickly dismissed by investigators, who resolute the incident stemmed from a family conflict. Stalzer, who was seriously injured on October 4th, is now out of danger and remains on track to be sworn in as mayor on November 4th. The suspect has been in the care of authorities since the attack.
The arrest warrant allows for measures to support the ongoing work of the youth welfare office as they assess the situation and provide necessary care. Authorities have stated the warrant is also a precaution to prevent the suspect from fleeing.
