Kelleher Focused on “Go Time” as Ireland Face Hungary in World cup Qualifying
DUBLIN – Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher emphasized the team’s readiness for Saturday’s crucial World Cup qualifying match against Hungary, stating, “This is it… we need to go and perform.” The liverpool player spoke ahead of the 7pm kickoff on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player, acknowledging the positive momentum from recent international camps but stressing the importance of securing a win.
Kelleher is relishing his role as a regular starter for his club, alongside fellow Ireland international Nathan Collins, and a renewed working relationship with former Ireland assistant coach keith Andrews. He admitted adapting to being a consistent number one in the Premier League is a shift in mindset he welcomes.
“It is a change of mentality for me,” Kelleher said. “It’s a nice position to be in,to know you’re going to be playing week in,week out… The pressure’s on to perform every week,so I think definitely it’s a change of mindset for me. But you know it’s been one I’ve wanted for a while, and it’s definitely a positive one for me.”
