Iran officials prepare for war amid US and Israel military threats

Iran officials prepare for war amid US and Israel military threats

October 26, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Iranian officials announced readiness to resume active conflict following explicit military threats from the United States and Israel, with state representatives detailing expansive retaliatory plans targeting regional civilian and economic infrastructure. Iran is preparing for a return to hostilities as diplomatic deadlock escalates and the U.S. warns of potential strikes following midterm elections.

Strait of Hormuz Patrols and Oil Export Milestones

While diplomatic channels remain stalled, military positioning in the Persian Gulf has intensified. U.S. Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper flew over the Strait of Hormuz in a U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook on October 25, marking a milestone as U.S. forces assisted Gulf partners in exporting more than 1.5 billion barrels of crude oil since the summer, CENTCOM reported. More than 3,000 commercial vessels have transited the strait with CENTCOM support over the past six months. Despite what CENTCOM termed unwarranted aggression by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), over 95% of ships navigating the route in recent months sailed through safely following operations to clear sea mines.

“Today, primary transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz remain free and clear of Iranian sea mines thanks to incredible efforts by our people,” Cooper said.

Tehran’s leadership has adopted an increasingly defiant posture regarding the waterway. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stated during a parliamentary session that the United States entered a quagmire due to its own miscalculations, adding that Washington must take the necessary steps to extricate itself. Qalibaf asserted that modern Iran will never permit any foreign power to dictate terms regarding national honor.

Iran Threatens Energy and AI Infrastructure Across Persian Gulf

In the event of a renewed air campaign by Washington and Jerusalem, Iranian officials have indicated that retaliatory strikes will extend far beyond military installations. Tehran’s public warnings and diplomatic communications outline plans to target natural energy infrastructure, natural gas pipelines, airports, and artificial intelligence facilities across the Persian Gulf region. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, noted that a renewed conflict would carry consequences spreading well beyond Iran’s borders.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned in a Financial Times op-ed that new attacks will put civilian lives and the well-being of all regional states at great risk. Analysts cited by The Wall Street Journal estimate that Iran maintains a stockpile of hundreds of thousands of ballistic missiles, though recent operations by the U.S. and Israel previously degraded a significant portion of those defensive capabilities and naval industries.

Strait of Hormuz Disputes Strain Ceasefire Before November Elections

The current friction follows a fragile period of reduced hostilities originating from a conflict that began in late February. Although a ceasefire and a memorandum for a final peace deal were previously established, deep disagreements over navigation rights in the Strait of Hormuz prevented a permanent settlement. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that failure to reach a comprehensive agreement could prompt new American military actions after early November midterm elections. Simultaneously, Israeli forces have maintained preparations for potential operations against the Islamic regime.
