iRacing Coming to Apple Vision Pro with NVIDIA CloudXR | Immersive Sim Racing
iRacing, a leading motorsport simulation platform, will be accessible on Apple’s Vision Pro headset this spring, coinciding with the release of visionOS 26.4 and NVIDIA’s CloudXR 6.0 streaming platform. The announcement, made March 20th, 2026, marks a significant step in immersive sim racing technology.
The collaboration between iRacing, Apple, and NVIDIA aims to deliver an unprecedented level of fidelity and immersion, according to iRacing President Tony Gardner. “With the ultra-high-resolution capabilities of Apple Vision Pro and the power of NVIDIA’s RTX GPU, this fresh spatial experience puts our users in the driver’s seat with a level of immersion and fidelity never before seen in sim racing,” Gardner stated.
A key feature of the iRacing experience on Apple Vision Pro is foveated streaming, a rendering technique that focuses processing power on the area the driver is directly looking at, maximizing visual clarity. This, combined with the Vision Pro’s ability to seamlessly blend the virtual cockpit with the user’s physical racing rig, creates a uniquely immersive environment. Racers will be able to spot their own hands on the steering wheel within the simulation, enhancing the sense of presence.
The technical foundation of this integration relies heavily on NVIDIA’s CloudXR. Physics calculations and high-fidelity graphics rendering are performed on a PC equipped with an NVIDIA RTX GPU, with the resulting frames encoded and streamed wirelessly via Wi-Fi to iRacing Connect on visionOS. This approach allows for complex simulations to be rendered and displayed on the Vision Pro without requiring the headset to handle the intensive processing itself.
iRacing boasts a comprehensive library of officially licensed cars and tracks, representing various motorsport disciplines. The platform collaborates with organizations such as the FIA, NASCAR, INDYCAR, IMSA, and automotive manufacturers including BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. The Apple Vision Pro integration is expected to further enhance the realism of these simulations, highlighting the nuances of each vehicle and track.
According to a post on Reddit’s r/iRacing forum, Apple and NVIDIA collaborated on both the client and server-side components of the integration, including the addition of new APIs. Apple also recently open-sourced code on GitHub related to the project, potentially fostering further development and innovation within the sim racing community.
The Apple Vision Pro, described as a “revolutionary spatial computer,” carries a significant price tag, starting at £3,199 / £266.58 per month in the UK, positioning it as a premium option for sim racing enthusiasts. X-Plane 12 is also slated to receive official support via the same NVIDIA CloudXR technology.
