SUARAKALBAR.CO.ID – Apple has substantially lowered production costs for the hinge of its forthcoming foldable iPhone, the iPhone Fold, slated for release next year. The cost reduction, reportedly achieved through assembly design optimization by Foxconn, allows Apple to maintain or increase profit margins without altering the deviceS anticipated selling price.
Technology analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, as reported by GSM Arena on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, indicates the iPhone fold hinge will now cost approximately US$70-US$80 less than previously estimated. Currently, 65% of the hinge components are being manufactured by a joint venture between Foxconn and Shin Zu Shing, with the remaining 35% supplied by Amphenol.
kuo further predicts that Luxshare-ICT will likely become a supplier in Apple’s hinge supply chain after 2027, potentially driving costs down further. He notes that competition for hinge supply is emerging as a new area for system assemblers within the foldable device industry.
