Instagram Surpasses 3 Billion Monthly Active Users
MENLO PARK, CA - instagram has reached a new milestone, exceeding 3 billion monthly active users, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today. The achievement, reported by The Verge, comes nearly four years after the platform surpassed 2 billion users in December 2021, bolstering Meta’s overall user base. Facebook reached 3 billion users in January, and WhatsApp followed in April.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the platform’s growth is largely fueled by the popularity of private messaging and short-form Reels videos. Instagram is now shifting its focus to upcoming feature updates.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri revealed plans for improved navigation, including easier access to Direct Messages (DMs) and Reels from the app’s home screen. An algorithm update is also in development, designed to give users greater control over the content appearing in their feeds and reels.
the company is also planning a test launch in India and South Korea that will automatically direct users to Reels upon opening the app-a move potentially capitalizing on the ongoing ban of TikTok in India.
