Indonesia Deports 78 Foreign Workers for Illegal Employment
Indonesian immigration authorities have deported 78 foreign workers following an enforcement operation in the Bekasi Regency of West Java.
The workers were apprehended during “Operasi Wirawaspada,” a targeted operation conducted on April 8, 2026, at the Greenland Internasional Industrial Center (GIIC) Deltamas, located in the Pasirranji village of Cikarang Pusat. According to Anggi Wicaksono, head of the Bekasi Immigration Office, the individuals were found to be working while holding residence permits that were not intended for employment purposes.
The group consisted of 76 Chinese nationals, one Vietnamese national, and one Malaysian national. Authorities stated that some of the individuals were unable to produce the required immigration documentation during the inspections.
Deportations have been carried out in stages since April. The first group, comprising 14 foreign nationals, was flown to Guangzhou, China, on April 20, 2026. A second group was deported on April 23, 2026, with 11 individuals sent to Guangzhou and one individual returned to Hanoi, Vietnam.
The Bekasi Immigration Office confirmed that while several groups have already been repatriated, other foreign nationals involved in the operation remain under processing in accordance with applicable immigration regulations.
Following the operation, immigration officials have urged the public to report any suspicious activities involving foreign nationals to the authorities.
