Indonesia Boosts National Defense Through C-130 Modernization and MRO Expansion
Indonesian Air Force Bolsters Lift Capacity with Refurbished Hercules
The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) has officially received an upgraded C-130H Hercules transport aircraft. The handover follows an extensive refurbishment program conducted by state-owned maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider PT GMF AeroAsia.
Twenty Years of Added Service Life
The C-130H underwent a comprehensive overhaul at the PT GMF AeroAsia facility.
According to company reports, the refurbishment successfully extended the aircraft’s operational lifespan by an additional 20 years.
Building a Domestic Defense Hub
Officials have designated Kertajati International Airport in West Java as a centralized hub for fighter jet maintenance.
Balancing Modernization and Procurement
However, this is only part of a wider roadmap.
The Ministry of Defense continues to assess its combat aviation needs, with official signals suggesting the potential acquisition of additional fighter jets.
