India Defeats Pakistan by Seven wickets in Asia Cup Amidst Boycott Calls
Dubai, september 15, 2025 – India secured a decisive seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in a Group stage Asia Cup match held at the dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav led the team to victory, chasing down a target of 128 with 25 balls to spare. This win marks one of India’s largest margins of victory against Pakistan in T20 cricket.
the match took place despite widespread calls for a boycott following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April that claimed the lives of several individuals. Suryakumar won the toss and chose to field, observing a moment of silence alongside Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha.
Following the win, Suryakumar dedicated the victory to the Indian armed forces and honored the victims of the Pahalgam attack. “I had a matter of things. Pahalgam. We stand with the family members of those who were victims in the terrorist attack. This is the best time to conquer the solidarity,” he stated.
He further added, “We want to submit this victory for all our courage. Thay will continue to motivate us all, whenever we get a chance, we will give you more joy in the field.”
The victory comes after reports surfaced indicating India’s initial reluctance to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup, fueled by strained relations between the two countries. Despite government approval for participation, the Indian team and the BCCI faced criticism for proceeding with the match.
Suryakumar also addressed his decision not to shake hands with Pakistani players after the game, stating, “Our government and BCCI decided to move on. I think we’re here to play the competition.”
The win is a significant boost for India, who now top the Asia Cup standings with two wins from two matches. They will next face Oman in their final league phase match. The victory also served as a birthday gift for Suryakumar.
