India and Pakistan trade Accusations Following islamabad Blast
Islamabad, Pakistan - Tensions flared between India and Pakistan following a deadly explosion in Islamabad on Tuesday, with both nations leveling accusations against each othre. The blast occurred as a cricket match was underway in nearby Rawalpindi, just 10 miles from the site of the incident.
The escalating exchange began after Pakistani prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directly linked the Islamabad blast, along with other recent attacks within Pakistan, to what he termed “Indian state terrorism.” He urged the international community to condemn what he called “nefarious conspiracies of India.”
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman randhir Jaiswal swiftly dismissed Sharif’s claims as “baseless and unfounded,” characterizing the Pakistani leadership as “obviously delirious.” Jaiswal accused Pakistan of attempting to deflect public attention from its own internal issues by fabricating narratives against India. “The international community is well aware of the reality and will not be misled by Pakistan’s desperate diversionary ploys,” he stated.
The Islamabad explosion follows a separate incident in Delhi on Monday, where an explosion near the historic Red Fort resulted in 13 deaths and over 20 injuries. While India has not publicly blamed Pakistan for the delhi attack, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah affirmed that security agencies are investigating “all angles” and are committed to identifying and apprehending those responsible.
Adding another layer of complexity, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif asserted that the Islamabad attack was orchestrated from Afghanistan, declaring, ”We are in a state of war,” and warning that Pakistan possesses the capability to respond to what he described as a “message from Kabul.”
The islamabad blast brought to mind the 2009 armed attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan, highlighting the ongoing security concerns in the region.
