India-Indonesia Defence Cooperation: Strategic Partnership Deepens

India and ‍Indonesia Deepen Defence ⁢Cooperation, pledge Support ⁢for a Stable ​Indo-Pacific

New Delhi, [Date – Current Date] – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Indonesian counterpart, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, today co-chaired the third India-Indonesia Defence Ministers’⁣ Dialogue in ‌New Delhi. The​ meeting underscored the long-standing strategic partnership and growing bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations.

Both leaders ⁣emphasized the critical importance of maintaining a free, open, peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, firmly grounded in international law and mutual respect⁣ for sovereignty. This shared vision reflects a commitment to regional security and‍ stability ‌in a complex geopolitical landscape.

During​ the dialogue, India and Indonesia ⁣agreed ⁤to considerably enhance their collaboration through multilateral frameworks, including the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). A key focus will be on bolstering practical cooperation in crucial areas such as maritime domain awareness, strengthening​ cyber resilience, and ⁤improving joint operational readiness. This⁣ collaborative approach aims​ to ​address emerging security challenges effectively.

Indonesia ⁣expressed strong gratitude for India’s proposal to establish a ​Joint Defence Industry Cooperation ⁣Committee. This​ committee will serve⁣ as a catalyst for deeper collaboration in technology transfer, joint Research and Advancement initiatives, harmonizing certification processes, and building robust supply-chain linkages. The move signals a commitment to fostering a self-reliant⁣ defence industrial base in both ‍countries.

The​ two countries also highlighted the⁣ success of their ongoing joint military exercises across land, maritime, and air forces.These⁣ exercises – including Super Garuda Shield, Garuda Shakti, Samudra Shakti, and MILAN – are vital for enhancing interoperability ​and strengthening the bonds between the armed forces of ⁤both nations.

Reaffirming ‍their commitment to⁢ maritime security, India and Indonesia discussed ⁢enhanced coordination in the Indian Ocean region. Moreover, discussions‌ extended to collaboration in defence medicine and pharmaceuticals, encompassing joint research, technology transfer, and training programs designed to bolster military health‍ resilience. Opportunities for cooperation⁣ in humanitarian assistance, post-conflict​ reconstruction, and multilateral peace efforts were also acknowledged.

In a display ⁣of shared values, both⁣ countries reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to a just and lasting peace in Palestine.
