In July, the military basics will learn about 160 reservists

On Saturday, the National Armed Forces (NAF) will organize mobilization centers in Riga, Saldus, Aluksne, Daugavpils and Gulbene to train and improve the order in which Latvian citizens are invited and called in the Armed Forces, LETA informed the NAF.

Latvian citizens will come to the mobilization centers who have applied for voluntary training of reserve soldiers. From mobilization centers, citizens who have applied for the reserve military training course will be taken to the Infantry School in Aluksne.

The military training course will take place from July 5 to July 26, with about 160 reservists.

During the military training course, reservists in the Infantry School in Aluksne will acquire military basic sites, both in the individual and collective training level, learning a variety of subjects, including regulatory enactments, weapons training, combat shooting, communication training, topography, orientation in the area, field combat skills and expanded first aid.

The training will be implemented in face -to -face classes, areas and field conditions in the form of lectures and practical field classes, taking theoretical and practical tests.

During the military training, the reservists will perform the active service, will have a soldier’s status, and their training time will be credited to their service seniority.

Reserve will be provided with a living space in the barrack or field conditions – in the tent, as well as the uniform and the necessary equipment. The reservists will pay compensation for each military school day, starting from € 41.75 per day. It will be paid by the transfer within the specified bank account within one month after the end of the training course. In addition to compensation, reservists will receive a soldier’s nutrition of EUR 14.00 per day or will be provided with meals.

Following a successful training course, reservists will take oath, receive a reserve soldier‘s certificate, mobilization assignment and will be credited to the Armed Forces reserve – a reserve soldier, thus starting to perform the duties of a reserve soldier.

For reserve soldiers, military skills are renewed every four years, calling for another reserve soldier training.

Both women and men – Latvian citizens aged 18 to 60, who have at least basic education and manage the official language at the average level, can apply for reserve training, without prior criminal and appropriate health.

Military training is not accepted by reservists with criminal criminal records, as well as those who have been retired from public service for discipline violations or have been in the USSR, Latvian SSR, or currently there is a foreign security service, intelligence or counterintelligence service, or a freelance staff, agents, residents, residents, residents or conspiracy apartment.

Reservents who perform their duties in the Ministry of the Interior system or in the Prison Administration are also unable to apply for training.

The Military Basic Military Training of the Year 2026 will take place from 7 to 28 February – within three weeks, participants will acquire basic military skills, gain practical understanding of national defense and strengthen personal readiness in crisis situations. Applying for the course is open until August 15, 2025.
