Impaired Toronto Limo Driver Arrested After Passengers Pull Over

Toronto Limousine Driver Arrested for Impaired Driving on QEW

Hamilton, Ontario – A Toronto limousine driver is facing multiple impaired and dangerous driving charges following a concerning incident on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) in Hamilton. Passengers aboard the stretch limousine took decisive action, forcing the driver to pull over due to fears for their collective safety.

The event unfolded just before 11 p.m. on July 11, as the limousine, carrying 10 passengers, traveled eastbound near the Fifty Road exit.Passengers grew increasingly alarmed by the driver’s erratic conduct and successfully persuaded him to stop on the highway shoulder. They then secured the vehicle’s keys.

Adding to the situation, another motorist had already contacted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report the limousine’s dangerous driving patterns. OPP officers arrived promptly at the scene and apprehended the driver without any complications.

The driver was transported to the Niagara detachment for mandatory breathalyzer tests. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the incident.

Authorities have identified the driver as 64-year-old Mathew Owusu-Afriyie of Toronto. He has been formally charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, specifically by alcohol and
