Image Comics is offering the first issue of “Death to the Pachuco,” a new horror-western comic book series, as a free digital download ahead of its Final Order Cutoff (FOC) date. The release is intended to generate excitement and boost pre-orders for the debut issue.
Created by writer Sergio Cariello and artist Jeremy Holt, “Death to the Pachuco” blends supernatural horror wiht the historical backdrop of 1940s Los Angeles and the Zoot Suit Riots.The story centers on a vengeful spirit targeting pachucos-members of a subculture known for their distinctive style of dress-and the detective tasked with stopping it. Image Comics is making the complete 32-page first issue available for free digitally through various platforms to encourage readership and drive sales before the FOC date of February 11, 2024. This allows comic book retailers to adjust their orders based on demonstrated demand.
The digital comic is available for download from the Image Comics website and other digital comic platforms. The series is scheduled to launch in print on February 28, 2024.
