MEDINAH, IL – The Illinois State Redbirds women’s golf team will compete close to home this weekend at the Illini Women’s Invitational, October 6-7, at the prestigious Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois. This marks the program’s debut appearance at Medinah, a venue renowned for hosting major championships including U.S. Opens, PGA Championships, and the Ryder Cup.
The Redbirds will be facing a challenging field of 15 teams, including nationally ranked opponents such as LSU (12), Auburn (17), and SMU (38). Illinois State is coming off a sixth-place finish at their own Redbird Invitational,where Elise Fennell secured a top-5 individual result and reagan Kennedy recorded a career-low round of 72. The Illini Women’s Invitational presents an opportunity for the Redbirds to test themselves against a strong lineup on a course considered a “true test for the world’s best players.”
Illinois State’s lineup for the tournament includes Elise Fennell, Reagan Kennedy, Alex Sparrow, Dani Grace Schrock, and Morgan Jones. Fennell will lead off for the Redbirds from the 13th hole, followed by Kennedy (14th), Sparrow (15th), and Schrock and Jones teeing off from the 16th holes (16A and 16B respectively).
The par-72 course will be played at 6,166 yards. live scoring will be available at Clippd. Participating teams also include UCF (35), Charleston (43), San Jose State (45), Illinois (48), Alabama (50), Texas Tech (60), Michigan (65), Minnesota (71), Indiana (72), Wisconsin (75), Illinois state (81), and Augusta (187).
