IHF Webinar: Handball Testing & ITA Updates

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

The International Testing Agency (ITA) will host a webinar on August 28, 2025, focused on Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), offering athletes and support personnel an opportunity to “Ask the Expert.” The webinar, scheduled for 14:00 CEST, is the eighth in a series of educational initiatives for 2025, according to a recent post on the International Handball Federation’s Facebook page.

The ITA, in collaboration with the International Handball Federation (IHF), has been actively delivering anti-doping education through webinars. A previous series, the Autumn 2023 IF Anti-Doping Webinar Series, comprised five sessions held between November 7 and December 5, 2023, also at 14:00-15:00 CET. These earlier webinars covered topics including an introduction to anti-doping, the doping control process, principles and values of clean sport, and out-of-competition testing. Participants who successfully completed all five sessions received a certificate from the ITA.

The IHF has consistently emphasized the importance of anti-doping education for its members, requesting support and commitment from handball communities worldwide to participate in the ITA-led webinars. The 2023 series, like the upcoming TUE-focused session, was conducted in English, with simultaneous translation available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish.

The ITA provides a range of free webinars covering essential anti-doping subjects, targeting athletes, athlete support personnel, and anyone committed to clean sport. A second edition of the IF Anti-Doping Webinar Series, began on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and continued every Wednesday through June 19, 2024. Topics in that series included medications, supplements, the prohibited list, and TUEs, as well as values, consequences, and reporting, and out-of-competition testing.

The upcoming webinar on TUEs builds on this ongoing effort to educate the handball community and broader sporting world on critical aspects of anti-doping regulations. Registration details for the August 28th webinar are available via the IHF’s Facebook page.
