ICON Water Trails Receives $250,000 Boost from Bank of America
ICON water Trails has secured a notable $250,000 grant from Bank of America, earmarked for teh development of the Hubbell Trailhead at the Fleur Drive Dam. This project represents the second whitewater attraction in ICON’s enterprising downtown development plan. The trailhead will feature a range of amenities, including a whitewater feature, kayak launch, boat ramp, and a dedicated recreation channel.
Hubbell Trailhead: A Key Component
The hubbell Trailhead is a crucial element of ICON’s broader initiative to establish 150 miles of interconnected water trails throughout Central Iowa. To date, ICON has successfully secured over $100.3 million in funding for this expansive project.The organization’s strategic vision encompasses driving economic growth, attracting a skilled workforce and boosting tourism, while simultaneously prioritizing on-water safety and environmental conservation.
Economic Impact and Community Benefits
ICON’s existing network of 15 sites already attracts more than 250,000 visitors annually. This influx of tourism supports over 110 jobs and contributes $3.4 million in wages to the local economy. The expansion promises to amplify these positive impacts.
