Dallas,Texas – A shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility near Interstate 35E Wednesday morning left one person dead and two others hospitalized wiht gunshot wounds. The shooter is also deceased.
The incident prompted the closure of both directions of I-35E while authorities responded. The northbound lane reopened around 8 a.m.,according to the Texas Department of Transportation.This shooting adds to a growing pattern of violence targeting ICE law enforcement,raising concerns about the safety of federal agents and the security of immigration facilities.Dallas police confirmed the shooting and stated the suspect died at the scene. Two victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Details remain limited as the investigation unfolds, but a news conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday with police and city officials.
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem released a statement confirming the shooting and multiple casualties.”Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities,” Noem said. “The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While we don’t no motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families.”
vice President JD vance echoed these sentiments in a social media post, stating, “the obsessive attack on law enforcement, notably ICE, must stop. I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families.”
