Ibaraki Robots Coach Hirotaka Iyoda to Lead Basketball Skill Clinic

November 4, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Ibaraki Robots Host Early-Stage Skill Clinic for Young Basketball Players in Mito

Participants will pay a fee of 2,500 yen per session using PayPay at the door for the Robots Basketball School clinic scheduled for November 29 at M-SPO Yudomu Arena in Mito.

The event targets boys and girls in the first through fourth grades who have prior basketball experience, with a capacity of 25 participants per session and a minimum requirement of 10 attendees to run. Hirotaka Iyoda, who coaches the Ibaraki Robots U15 boys and serves as a club school coach, will lead the instruction under a C-class coaching certification from the Japan Basketball Association.

Single-Day Program Divides into Three Segments

The single-day program divides into three distinct one-hour segments utilizing mini-basket rings set at a height of 2.60 meters. The first session runs from 8:20 a.m. to 9:20 a.m., focusing on fundamental driving skills, including speed changes and tactical setups used by professional players. Registration for the opening block opens at 8:00 a.m.

The second session covers stop-and-change-of-direction mechanics from 9:50 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., designed to help players turn defensive pressure into offensive opportunities. Check-in takes place between 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The final instructional block runs from 11:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. following an 11:00 a.m. check-in, concentrating on scoring adjustments against help defense.

The Ibaraki Prefectural Basketball Association backs the event. Attendees must bring their own basketballs, shoes, towels, and drinks, and cover their own parking costs at nearby paid lots. Parents may observe the sessions, though video recordings cannot be shared on social media. Applications close on November 26 through the official Ibaraki Robots website.
