Multiple lanes of southbound Interstate 205 near Powell Boulevard in east Portland were closed Tuesday morning following a crash involving a semi-truck. Police arrested John C. Lee Jr., 25, on allegations of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, and first-degree criminal mischief related to the 2:30 a.m. incident.
According to the Portland Police Bureau,Lee’s vehicle struck the semi,causing it to lose control and roll over. The semi-truck driver was not injured. Lee was transported to a hospital as a precaution before being taken into custody.
As of Tuesday morning, one lane of southbound I-205 near the crash site was open, according to Oregon Department of Transportation traffic cameras. Officials anticipate the cleanup will continue through the morning commute,and the timeframe for reopening all lanes remains unknown.
