ganesh Chaturthi Immersion in Hyderabad Features Trucks themed After ‘Operation Sindoor‘
Hyderabad: Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Hyderabad took a notable turn on Saturday, September 6, as trucks carrying Ganesh idols were decorated with imagery referencing “Operation Sindoor,” a recent Indian military action. The themed trucks were observed passing through the historic Charminar area during the city’s annual immersion procession.
Operation Sindoor refers to the Indian government’s military response in May 2025 against Pakistan, launched in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. The inclusion of this theme on the Ganesh idol trucks reflects a current wave of national sentiment and remembrance of the military operation amidst the festive atmosphere.
Elsewhere in the city, the 69-foot tall Khairatabad Ganesh idol was immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake before noon. The procession route began at Khairatabad Libary and proceeded via Telephone Bhavan, Saifabad, and the Telangana secretariat. Thousands of devotees lined the streets to witness the event.
Approximately 50,000 Ganesh idols were immersed in hussain Sagar Lake, contributing to a total of 1.4 lakh idols immersed throughout Greater Hyderabad over a 40-hour period. Authorities deployed notable resources for safety and cleanup, including nine boats, Disaster Response Force teams, 200 swimmers, over 29,000 police personnel, and 15,000 sanitation workers.
Traditional auctions of laddu prasadam also took place, with the Balapur laddu fetching Rs 35 lakh and the Bandlaguda laddu selling for Rs 2.32 crore. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy visited the Khairatabad pandal to offer prayers.
