The Argentine Professional League (LPF) confirmed that tonight’s match between Huracán and Belgrano will be played behind closed doors at the Tomás Adolfo Ducó stadium, following a building collapse near the venue. The decision, announced Tuesday afternoon, impacts the eighth matchday of the 2026 Mercado Libre Tournament.

The collapse occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a complex located on Mafalda Street, approximately 900, in the Parque Patricios neighborhood, according to reports. Authorities received emergency calls around 4:45 AM alerting them to the collapse of an internal patio area impacting the building’s underground parking structure. Approximately 200 residents have been affected by the incident.

City of Buenos Aires fire departments, the Special Rescue Group (GER), and the 4 D Police Precinct responded to the scene. Rescue teams, including K9 units specialized in searching collapsed structures, were deployed. As of this afternoon, authorities have reported no injuries or individuals trapped within the rubble, and the evacuation of the complex was carried out as a precautionary measure.

The LPF stated the decision to close the stadium to the public was made in coordination with the City of Buenos Aires government, citing organizational concerns related to ongoing work in the area surrounding the stadium. “Due to the publicly known incident in Parque Patricios, the match between Huracán and Belgrano… will be played without an audience, due to organizational issues related to the work being carried out in the area,” the LPF announced in a statement.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7:15 PM local time. Play began with a clearance by Belgrano’s Alexis Maldonado in the second minute, and a foul called on Belgrano’s Adrián Sánchez against Huracán’s Óscar Romero shortly after kickoff. Ariel Penel is serving as the match referee.
