Huawei Watch GT 6 Gains Advanced Cycling Metrics with New Update
berlin – Huawei has released a new update for the Watch GT 6 and GT 6 Pro, bringing professional-grade cycling performance tracking to the smartwatches. The update introduces a virtual power meter capable of calculating wattage with a claimed deviation of less than 15 watts compared to dedicated cycling power meters.
The virtual power meter analyzes data including body size and weight, bicycle type and weight, wind speed, temperature, heart rate, speed, and elevation changes to estimate performance. This allows cyclists to train in specific power zones – from low-intensity Zone 0 to maximum effort in Zone 5 - and determine their Functional Threshold power (FTP), the highest average performance maintainable for one hour. The watch also calculates power-to-weight ratio, providing a performance metric adjusted for body weight.
the update also adds a fall detection feature, which recognizes falls with 90 percent accuracy and initiates a 60-second countdown before automatically contacting emergency contacts or local emergency services.
The update is available now via the Huawei Health app under the watch GT 6 or GT 6 Pro sections.
