Windows 11 Users Can Now Force Enable the Redesigned Start Menu
Users no longer need to wait for Microsoft’s phased rollout to experience the new Windows 11 Start menu. A community-developed tool allows immediate activation of the redesigned interface, bypassing the gradual feature release strategy employed by the tech giant. The procedure is expected to work with the upcoming mandatory update scheduled for November 11, wich will broadly offer the new Start menu, tho not to all users together.
Microsoft typically introduces new features incrementally, meaning updates don’t automatically grant access to every new capability. However, the ViVeTool-identified by leaker @phantomofearth during public testing this summer-enables users to activate features by utilizing specific identifiers. This offers a workaround for those eager to try the new Start menu without delay.
How to Activate the new Start Menu:
- Download ViVeTool from https://github.com/thebookisclosed/ViVe/releases and extract the contents to a folder.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Navigate to the folder containing the extracted vivetool files using the
cdcommand. For example:cd c:vivetool. - Enter the command:
vivetool /enable /id:47205210and press Enter. - Confirm successful activation by verifying the message: “Successfully set feature configuration.”
- Restart your computer.
To disable the new Start menu, use the command: vivetool /disable /id:47205210. While activation generally proceeds without issue, full functionality cannot be guaranteed.
