Hovercraft 2.0 Snowboard Review: Sustainable Power for Powder & Trees

The Hovercraft 2.0 features subtle ​serrations along‍ the edges⁣ – Jones calls it Traction Tech – which grip hard ⁤snow without hindering ⁤carving. While Traction tech isn’t quite as dependable​ as Lib Tech’s Magne-Traction (a similar idea with more pronounced bumps), this board held its edge remarkably well in ⁣challenging terrain.

It’s also the best board I’ve ever ridden in the trees. Despite its width, it turns quickly in deep ‌snow, where rapid direction changes are key. In March 2024, I tested this‍ board on a trip through Northern California, Idaho, Montana,⁣ and Washington. Several resorts hadn’t seen fresh snow in days, and open runs were tracked out, but⁢ I consistently found untouched powder in the trees. When I did get it onto a large, steep snowfield, ‍the board felt relaxed and surf-like.It also​ glides smoothly over flat areas.

The Hovercraft 2.0 is arguably the most sustainable snowboard available.It’s the first⁣ snowboard built with‌ Jones’​ new bio-resin,which reduces reliance on customary,petroleum-based epoxy. It also uses a new core made from sustainably ‌sourced wood and a base made from recycled materials.
