Hisense TVs: 8 Years of Free Software Updates

Historically, manufacturers like Samsung and LG offered limited software updates for their televisions, frequently enough necessitating more frequent device replacements for users seeking the latest features. Though,this practice has shifted,with a notable reversal in recent times.

LG now provides five years of updates for it’s WebOS platform, while Samsung has recently committed to supporting its TVs with updates for up to seven years. Hisense has now surpassed both Korean companies, promising software updates for its Vidaa-powered TVs for a period of up to eight years.

Hisense aims to establish a new benchmark in the television market by guaranteeing eight years of updates. Currently, Apple leads in device support, offering up to ten years of updates for its tvOS system.

The Vidaa operating system from Hisense is currently integrated into over 30 million TVs globally, spanning approximately 400 brands, including hisense and Toshiba.select Hisense televisions released in 2025 will come pre-installed with the Vidaa 8.5 system and are slated to receive an update to version 9.0 by the end of the year. Additionally, models featuring the new Pentonic 800 system will be available for purchase promptly with Vidaa 9.0 onboard.
