Heartland Trailer: Jessica Chastain Stars in Netflix Country Mystery Thriller
Netflix has released the official trailer for Heartland, a mystery thriller feature starring Jessica Chastain as a former country megastar who emerges from a twenty-year seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her niece. Written and directed by Shana Feste, the film is set to debut directly on Netflix on Friday, November 13, 2026.
The story follows Misty Jones as she is forced back into the Nashville world she left behind after her niece, a rising country musician played by actual rising singer Carter Faith, goes missing. The official logline notes that Misty must confront Nashville’s gritty underside alongside her own history, with her investigation revealing a shadowy municipal undercurrent where every individual—including herself—wears a mask. Chastain will contribute her own vocals to the film’s soundtrack.
Production and Cast
Filmmaker Shana Feste, whose previous credits include The Greatest,
Country Strong,
Endless Love,
Boundaries,
and Run Sweetheart Run,
penned and directed the project. The film was shot late last year in Atlanta and is produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Randall Poster, and Jason Owen, with production by Chernin Entertainment and Sandbox Studios.
Alongside Chastain and Carter Faith, the feature stars Garrett Hedlund (who previously appeared in Feste’s Country Strong
), Ross Lynch, Ben Dickey, Jennifer Nettles, John Hawkes, Paul Sparks, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz, Wynn Everett, Isabelle Kusman, and David Rysdahl.
Official Soundtrack Arrives on November 13
Arriving the exact same day as the film on November 13, the official Heartland soundtrack will be available across all streaming services. Alongside Margo Price, Carly Pearce, Eddy Dunlap, Channing Wilson, and Dave “Fergie” Ferguson, the record showcases special tracks from cast members such as Ross Lynch, CMA nominee Carter Faith, three-time Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles, and Chastain. The album is led by the title track performed by Chastain and Nettles.
Discussing her character, Chastain offered insight into Misty’s complex nature: Misty could be incredibly tender, and then five minutes later, shoot someone’s windows out. So, she’s not interested in being liked. And I love women like that on screen because I don’t think we get to see them that often. Underneath the noir and the mystery, Shana was making a film about women reclaiming authorship of their own lives.
