HCU Cross Country Teams Compete at Dallas Baptist old Glory Gallop
FORT WORTH, Texas - Houston Christian University’s cross country teams concluded their regular season Saturday at the Dallas Baptist old Glory Gallop, gaining valuable racing experience ahead of the 2025 Southland Conference Championships. The HCU men finished ninth, while the women placed 11th in a competitive field of 40 teams each.
This final tune-up serves as a critical stepping stone for the Huskies as they prepare too compete for a conference title. The Southland Conference Championships, scheduled for October 31st in Natchitoches, Louisiana, hosted by Northwestern State, will determine team and individual qualifiers for the NCAA postseason.saturday’s results provide a benchmark for the team’s progress and areas for enhancement in the coming weeks.
Destiny Quintanilla led the HCU women, securing a 13th-place finish in the 5K with a time of 18:00.9. Reyes Carrera followed closely, completing the course in 18:32.43 for 36th place. Jazlynn Garza (19:12.26, 75th) and Cara Gary (19:49.18) also contributed to the Huskies’ team score.
On the men’s side, Raphael Aureau paced HCU in the 8K, finishing 37th with a time of 24:55.1, just three seconds off his personal record. Leandre Lahalle achieved a personal best of 25:01.89, finishing 41st. Alejandro Rosales (25:47.32, 86th), Colby Kurtz (25:50.74), and jaxon Artisst (25:51.69) rounded out the scoring for the Huskies men.
