Far-left political streamer Hasan Piker drew intense bipartisan backlash in August 2026 after stating during a Twitch broadcast that American Jews who support Israel are inviting violence against themselves. Piker claimed that public alignment with the Israeli government makes antisemitism worse and positions local communities for potential retaliation.

The streamer specifically addressed Michigan state Senator Jeremy Moss, who is Jewish and the Democratic nominee for U.S. Congress in the state’s 11th district. Moss had previously declined to endorse Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan.
Piker warned his audience that public support for Israel carries severe domestic risks. “If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone’s going to come around and take action, not against the State of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews,” Piker stated during the broadcast. He further asserted that tying identity to Israel equates the nation to what he termed “Jewish ISIS,” claiming such associations worsen antisemitism.

House Democratic Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-MI) issued a sharp rebuke of the streamer on X. Scholten denounced Piker’s commentary as a direct call for violence against American Jews and criticized him for targeting a local elected official.
“Hasan Piker’s calls for violence against American Jews, and directly naming a Michigan elected official (and future Congressional colleague) Jeremy Moss are unacceptable. Full stop,” Scholten wrote. She added that Piker thrives on shock value and that his rhetoric has no place in Michigan or the United States.
The controversy also reverberated through competitive electoral races in the state. Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers publicly condemned Piker’s statements, challenging El-Sayed to disavow the streamer due to their prior campaign association. El-Sayed had previously campaigned alongside Piker, who emerged as a prominent surrogate for the candidate.
