Mannheim, Germany – Janine, a citizen receiving Bürgergeld and a participant in the RTLZWEI documentary series “Hartz und herzlich,” is slated to receive a publicly funded Bauchstraffung (tummy tuck) to address ongoing health issues stemming from her pregnancies, according to reports surfacing Friday.
The 27-year-vintage, known to viewers as a Zwillingsmama (mother of twins), has been documenting her life in Mannheim’s Benz-Baracken since 2017. She initially sought the procedure in 2021, but her application was denied due to a lack of perceived medical necessity. A recent consultation with the AOK, a German public health insurance provider, has renewed her hopes, with the Krankenkasse now reviewing her case for cost coverage.
“Today is the appointment with the AOK for stomach and breast,” Janine stated in footage from the upcoming season of “Hartz und herzlich,” which premieres March 2nd, 2026. She described experiencing significant discomfort and limitations in movement due to the excess skin and tissue, stating, “My stomach really hurts. Even when I wear jeans, the pressure bothers me… Even if I just ride a bike with the children, at the end I’m totally sore and it hurts!”
The upcoming surgery, a Bauchschürzen-OP, aims to remove excess skin and fat. While the AOK is currently reviewing the application, the process is expected to accept up to five weeks. According to reports, Janine’s physician has provided a clear recommendation for the procedure.
This development comes as Janine navigates challenges with self-employment. Recent reports indicate she has been forced to abandon her work as a freelance makeup artist due to time constraints related to raising her twins and is now seeking support from the Jobcenter. However, a separate report indicates a potential career shift. Following a promotional event for a Bavarian club, Janine has been offered a position within the club’s event team, initially working remotely with plans for on-site involvement.
The new season of “Hartz und herzlich” will document Janine’s pursuit of the surgery and her evolving employment situation. Fans following the show on social media are already aware that the AOK has approved coverage for the procedure.
