Harmony Days Initiative Champions Music as Essential for Child Growth & Social Harmony
Milan, Italy – A new initiative, Harmony Days, launched this week at the Cariplo Congress center in Milan, advocating for music education as a vital component of cultural formation for children and a powerful tool for fostering social harmony. The two-day event, held under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and supported by sponsors including Enel, Mediaset, and Yamaha, brought together figures from the academic, institutional, entrepreneurial, and musical worlds.
Harmony Days centers around a manifesto – available at https://www.harmonydays.org/manifesto/ - that aims to establish music as an “indispensable discipline” in a child’s upbringing. The initiative plans to translate this vision into concrete action through three key projects: establishing a permanent observatory to measure the impact of music and artistic practice; launching training programs for non-specialist teachers; and providing support for existing foundations dedicated to music education, including “The music that is good for children” (Lang), “Jun-Art TV” (Amiotti), and “adopts a talent” (Monzino).
Organizers emphasize that Harmony Days represents a forward-looking cultural project, recognizing that in an increasingly globalized world, “harmony is not a gift, but a conquest of civilizations and peace.”
The initiative is spearheaded by Music & Media press, founded in 2020 by Elisa Serrani, director of the Musica Meggiatto.it portal, with a goal to promote artistic projects and build a network supporting all aspects of a musical career.
