Han Dong-hoon Challenges Cho⁣ Kuk to Debate Over Daejang-dong Case, Accuses Him of Avoiding Accountability

SEOUL, August 15 – Former People Power Party CEO Han Dong-hoon renewed ⁣his ⁣call for ⁤a public debate with‍ former Cho ‍Kuk Reform Party Emergency Response Committee Chairman Cho Kuk regarding the abandonment of appeals in‍ the ‘Daejang-dong incident,’ accusing Cho Kuk of attempting to⁢ evade scrutiny‌ following his‌ criticism of a potential Liberation Day pardon.

Han Dong-hoon alleges Cho Kuk initiated the ⁢current ⁣dispute by questioning the handling of funds in the Daejang-dong case and suggesting victims pursue civil lawsuits. He claims his debate proposal⁢ stemmed directly from Cho Kuk’s initial comments. In a ⁣facebook post at approximately 7:26 p.m. on August 15th,Han Dong-hoon stated,”Mr. ‌Cho ⁢Kuk seems to have‌ forgotten, but I didn’t‌ suddenly ask you to discuss it…my debate proposal started because of ⁤nonsense.”

The former People Power Party CEO further asserted that Cho‍ Kuk is potentially aligning himself with figures linked to President Lee Jae-myung in exchange for a “preferential pardon,” and warned that refusing the debate would invalidate any gains made through such support. “Mr. Cho ⁣Kuk might potentially‍ be actively siding with the Daejangdong gang…to pay for the food he received from President Lee Jae-myung through a preferential pardon…but if he runs away like this, all the money he has earned so‌ far ⁢will be lost,” Han wrote.

This exchange follows Han Dong-hoon’s earlier proposal on ⁣August 12th and a subsequent offer made during⁣ Cho kuk’s appearance on the Sampro TV ⁤YouTube channel, where Han suggested an ⁢open discussion during the broadcast. Cho Kuk‌ responded indirectly at approximately 4:15 ⁤p.m. on August 15th, stating on Facebook, “I have no intention of responding to Mr. Han ⁣Dong-hoon’s whining,” and declaring he would not engage.

Han Dong-hoon reiterated his willingness to debate ⁣any topic chosen by Cho⁣ Kuk, adding a pointed request: “Also, please talk without crying.” The Daejang-dong incident centers on‌ allegations of corruption and irregularities in a land development project in the Daejang-dong⁣ area of Seongnam, South Korea. The case has become a major political issue, with accusations leveled against figures associated with both the Democratic Party and the ‍People Power Party.
