Guins Host YSU Icebreaker; Send Seven to Boston to Open Indoor Season

Youngstown State University will host the Icebreaker indoor track ⁢and field meet on Friday,while simultaneously sending seven athletes to Boston to compete and begin their indoor season. The​ dual approach highlights the program’s commitment to providing competitive opportunities for all team members.

The Icebreaker, scheduled to begin at noon, will feature a rolling schedule of running events ⁤with women competing first, followed by ⁤men. Field events will also commence at noon, including seeded ⁣and unseeded pole vault competitions,‍ high jump, ⁤weight throw, ‍shot put, long jump, and triple jump. YSU will welcome athletes from ⁤various schools to it’s facility for the event. ⁤Meanwhile,the select group traveling to Boston will⁢ participate in a separate,high-caliber competition,aiming to ‍establish early-season benchmarks.

* Long Jump (Men – West Pit, Women – East Pit), followed by Triple‌ Jump (20 minutes after Long Jump completion)

The top nine qualifying marks will advance to the finals‌ in all field‌ events.‌ Athletes competing in the Icebreaker include Levi Glassmeyer and Ryan Tetrick in throwing events, and Dominic Brown, Kienan Donovan, and Jaden Kirkwood in discus.
