Gran Turismo 7‘s ⁣Spec III Update Arrives in December with New Content and Features

Fukuoka,‍ Japan – Polyphony Digital⁤ will release Spec III, a major update for Gran Turismo 7, this December, bringing new race tracks,‌ vehicles, and ‌a host of ⁤features ⁢designed to enhance the ⁤racing​ experience. The⁢ update is anticipated ⁣to ⁣coincide with‌ the⁣ Gran Turismo World Final in ⁣Fukuoka on December 20-21, perhaps ⁣arriving on or‍ around Christmas Day.

Currently, Gran Turismo 7‘s weekly mode offers five races, four from⁢ World Circuits ‍and a unique‍ Special ⁢Event. Spec ‍III will expand this with the addition of Time Trial and Mission Challenge events. A preview image suggests the Time Trial⁣ will utilize a circuit Experience-style format on a short section of Brands⁤ Hatch, distinct from ‍the existing challenge. The inclusion of a new ‍Mission Challenge hints at​ a‌ potential resurgence of mission-based gameplay.

The update introduces a new‍ “Seasonal Menu,” the purpose of which remains undisclosed, potentially linking to a ⁤new Seasonal race⁢ mode. For competitive‍ players, ⁢the⁣ Data Logger-a lap time comparison feature last seen in Gran​ Turismo ​6-will return. Initial images reveal overlays displaying ⁢speed, ‍throttle,‍ brake position,‌ engine speed, G-force traces, and multiple display modes for comparing laps between two cars.

Further enhancements include the integration of new Dunlop tires,developed through a partnership ⁢with Sumitomo Rubber Industries,likely necessitating ‍adjustments to the game’s physics model. Polyphony Digital also lists⁢ “improvements to online races,” details of which are currently unconfirmed, alongside​ the addition of new Scapes ⁢and a ⁤brand-new opening movie.
