Gemini CLI & Code Assist Users Gain Increased Model Request Limits
Google is boosting model request limits for Gemini CLI and Gemini Code Assist, providing increased capacity for developers subscribed to AI Pro and Ultra plans. The update, rolling out over the next 24 hours, allows users to leverage Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash models more extensively within thier workflows.
This enhancement arrives as adoption of Gemini’s developer tools continues to grow. Launched in may, Gemini Code Assist integrated with VS Code and IntelliJ, followed by the open-source Gemini CLI in June-bringing Gemini’s AI capabilities directly to the terminal. The increased limits empower developers utilizing features like VSCode’s IDE mode, the Zed integration, and recently released GitHub Actions for the CLI to build more efficiently.
The changes benefit all Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, enabling more frequent and complex interactions with Gemini’s models. Users can now spend more time coding and building with Gemini’s assistance.
Those not currently subscribed to Google AI Pro or Ultra can sign up to access these benefits and more.
