Good Morning America Broadcasts Asheville’s Recovery After Hurricane Helene

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Good Morning America ‌ highlighted Western North Carolina‘s recovery from Hurricane⁣ Helene during⁣ a special broadcast from the Biltmore House on Thursday, marking​ nearly one year since the storm’s impact. The segment is ⁣part⁣ of GMA‘s “50 States ‍in ​50​ Weeks” series,with⁢ North Carolina ‍as the 12th state featured.

The broadcast, led by ⁢weekend anchor and correspondent‌ Janai Norman, focused on ⁢asheville’s progress and resilience following the devastating hurricane.Good Morning America has ⁤visited Asheville three ​times since Helene struck ⁤- initially in the ⁣immediate aftermath, again at the six-month mark,‌ and now approaching the one-year ⁤anniversary.

The‍ special emphasized that north⁢ Carolina is once again welcoming visitors.”I hope ⁣that this ‍shines ‍a ‌national spotlight that Biltmore and⁣ Asheville are open,⁣ gorgeous ​and ⁤vibrant,” ​said Chase Pickering, vice president of guest experiences at⁣ Biltmore House.‍ “We are so excited to welcome people back to this region after such a challenging year.”

The segment also included interviews ‍with the Asheville Dream Center ⁢and featured guests from recently reopened ​local businesses,⁤ including ​the Corner ‍Kitchen.ABC News Chief Meteorologist ginger ​Zee ‍previously visited WLOS ​News 13 ahead of ‌the broadcast to prepare for the “Asheville Rising” special.
