Gonzalo del Peón Leaves Hyatt: Amresorts Co-founder Steps Down

gonzalo del Peón Steps Down from Hyatt​ Following Successful ⁣Expansion of All-Inclusive Luxury Concept

Gonzalo ⁣del Peón, co-founder of Amresorts,​ has concluded his ‌tenure with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, transitioning too the role of Senior Advisor‌ in January 2024. His departure follows a period of significant growth ⁢adn integration following⁣ Hyatt’s acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2021.

Del Peón co-founded ⁢Amresorts ​in 2001 with a vision to ‌elevate the all-inclusive hotel experience,segmenting ⁣it⁣ for⁢ diverse markets. This lead ⁤to the creation of successful‍ brands like​ Secrets Resorts & Spas – the first adults-only all-inclusive brand in Mexico⁤ and ⁣the‍ Caribbean – ‍as well as Dreams, Breathless, Zoëtry, and Sunscape, all​ now integrated within Hyatt’s portfolio.

Under his ⁣leadership,⁣ Amresorts expanded to encompass more than⁣ 10 brands,‍ totaling 121 hotels ⁣with nearly 40,000 rooms across 12 countries. Del Peón oversaw critical areas⁢ including operations, management, marketing, owner relations, and new product innovation.

The success of the Amresorts⁤ concept and ​its international potential ‍prompted​ Hyatt Hotels Corporation to acquire 100% of ⁣Amresorts and Apple Leisure Group in a deal valued at €2.300 million in‌ 2021. following the acquisition, Del Peón remained with Hyatt, spearheading the integration process ‌and continuing to drive international advancement.

Prior to ⁢assuming the role of Senior advisor, Del Peón served as ⁣President of Even Collection Hyatt Americas & Global Commercial.

Hyatt’s ​President and CEO, mark Hoplamazian, ‍and other company leaders honored Del ⁣Peón with a farewell celebration, recognizing his contributions, leadership, and dedication to​ excellence.
