Golf nonprofit seeks to help junior players succeed in life

First Tee of Metropolitan new York Launches Initiative to‌ Expand ​Junior Golf Access

NEW YORK, NY – December 2, 2024, 12:04:55 PM ‍EST – First Tee of Metropolitan New York is launching a new ⁢fundraising‍ drive aimed at bolstering its programs for junior golfers, with a focus on providing life skills advancement alongside athletic⁢ instruction. The nonprofit⁢ institution seeks to increase its ⁤reach and impact, offering opportunities to young people across the New York metropolitan area.

First tee ⁤of Metropolitan New ⁣YorkS expanded initiative addresses a growing need for accessible, positive youth development programs.‌ The ⁤organization believes golf provides ​a unique platform to⁢ teach valuable character ⁣traits like honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, and resilience. The organization currently serves over 2,000 participants annually, ⁣and this ⁢campaign seeks to grow that number significantly over the next three years.

Founded in 1999, First Tee of Metropolitan New York is an affiliate of The First Tee, a national⁢ organization dedicated ‌to providing young people with opportunities to ​learn the game of golf‌ and ⁣the accompanying life skills. Programs are offered at​ various locations⁣ throughout the region, including public courses, driving ranges, and schools. The curriculum‍ focuses ⁢on a progressive learning‌ system, guiding participants through​ skill development and character education.

“We’re not just teaching kids⁣ how to swing a club,” explains Executive Director​ Josh ‌Jacobs. “We’re teaching them how to approach challenges, manage their emotions, ​and make responsible decisions. These⁣ are ‍skills that will benefit them​ throughout their lives.”
