Honduran Defender Getsel Montes Suffers Thigh Injury, Expected Two-Week Recovery
Herediano, Costa Rica – October 18, 2024 – Honduran international Getsel Montes is expected to be sidelined for approximately two weeks due to a one-centimeter muscle tear in his right thigh, as confirmed by DIEZ on Friday. The injury was diagnosed following medical examinations conducted this morning after Montes reported increased discomfort following his recent international duty with the Honduras national team.
Montes initially experienced discomfort prior to joining the honduran squad for the recent FIFA date, but the pain worsened upon his return to his club, Herediano. He was later removed from team activities and underwent evaluation, revealing the slight tear. While not considered a severe injury, it necessitates rest and a specialized recovery plan.
The defender has already begun physiotherapy and individualized care designed to prevent a relapse. His recovery will be closely monitored as he works separately from the main squad.
The injury is a setback for Herediano, who will be without a key defender during a crucial stage of the championship. Montes is also aiming to be fit for Honduras’ upcoming Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers against Nicaragua on November 13 and Costa Rica on November 18.
Sources close to Montes report he remains “optimistic and committed” to his recovery, with a goal of returning to training quickly. His availability will depend on the healing process and his physical response to reintegration with the team.
