Georgia Police Seek Man Who Broke Into Hot Tub and Obsessed Over Rubber Duck
A Georgia man is currently being hunted by the Chatham County Police Department after surveillance footage captured him trespassing on a private residential property, using the pool, and becoming intensely infatuated with a rubber duck inside a stranger’s hot tub before fleeing with luxury beach towels valued at $1,200 on September 1.
Surveillance Details and the Unauthorized Hot Tub Session
According to the Chatham County Police Department, surveillance footage from a home located in the 9000 block of Whitefield Avenue shows the unidentified suspect trespassing between 2:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on September 1. The video reveals the man swimming in the pool before transitioning to the hot tub, where his behavior shifted toward the property’s floating accessories. Law enforcement reported that the man spent more than ten minutes intensely interacting with a rubber duck found at the residence.
The Chatham County Police Department released details of the bizarre encounter on social media, noting the odd nature of the offense. “He trespassed onto their property, used their hot tub, became obsessed with their rubber duck, then stole their pool towels. It’s obviously not the biggest crime we’ve dealt with this month, but it has a lot of ick-factor. So, we’d like to find this guy so he doesn’t do this to someone else,” police wrote on Facebook.
While law enforcement did not elaborate publicly on the exact physical nature of the acts performed on the toy, a grainy, black-and-white still image from the security footage appears to show the suspect holding the rubber duck near his face.
The Escape and Luxury Towel Theft
Following the extended interaction with the rubber duck, the suspect gathered his belongings and prepared to depart the Whitefield Avenue property. Security camera footage tracked the man leaving the residence on a bicycle. As he rode away, the video captured several high-end pool towels stored in the basket underneath the bike.
Police confirmed that the suspect made off with six luxury beach towels, valued at approximately $200 each, bringing the total value of the stolen linens to $1,200.
The Chatham County Police Department has released photos of the suspect to the public in an effort to identify him. Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the man or possesses information regarding the September 1 incident to contact local investigators immediately.
