From Remembrance to Resolve: Carrying Forward the Spirit of Commemoration
Recent commemorative activities honoring pivotal moments in China’s history are not simply reflections on the past, but powerful catalysts for future progress. The confidence, pride, and patriotic spirit ignited by thes events are being actively channeled into concrete action, aligning with the directives of the Party Central Committee and bolstering the nation’s ability to navigate present and future challenges. This renewed energy is fueling advancements in reform, growth, and stability across all sectors of society.
The impact of these commemorations is deeply personal for many. Li Yitong, head of Pocang Township in Yi county, Hebei Province, and battalion commander of the local militia, vividly recalls leading her team across Tiananmen Square. “The moment I shouted out the command ’Look to the right,’ I saw the prosperity of the motherland and the mighty and powerful of the people’s army.it was a feeling of surging that was engraved into life,” she shared. This experiance was further reinforced by a warm reception from General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People, where she pledged to “take root and witness the heroic land of langya Mountain’s heroic song, continue the red bloodline, and strive to shine in the new era of national defense mobilization and reserve force construction.”
This commitment to carrying forward the legacy of the past is echoed in the educational sphere. Cheng Lin, a history teacher at Chongqing Nankai Middle School – a school steeped in the history of the War of Resistance – describes the commemorative activities as “a vivid and profound open history class.” She emphasizes the enduring relevance of past lessons, stating, “Temporarily, strength lies in strength, and success lies in reason.” Ms.Lin is dedicated to promoting a correct understanding of history and peace, and intends to expand the scope and depth of historical education, inspiring students to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and global peace.
The spirit of dedication extends to the industrial workforce. Zhang Tengjiao, a national model worker and welder at Shengu Group, exemplifies this commitment. After 27 years of dedicated work and the independent innovation of the ”Casted Aluminum Sealed Tip Welding Repair Method” – a technique filling a critical technical gap – he expresses a clear sense of purpose.”As a worker in the equipment manufacturing enterprise, our duty is to be down-to-earth, do every part in our hands, and weld every unit firmly,” he stated, believing that dedication to one’s work is the most meaningful tribute to the sacrifices of past generations.
For the next generation of innovators, the commemorative events have fostered a strong connection between individual aspirations and national destiny. Yang Qinyu, an undergraduate student at Beijing Institute of Technology, spoke of feeling “a power that transcends time and space” and “infinite respect for the martyrs” at a recent memorial meeting. Inspired by General Secretary Xi Jinping’s call to ”go forward and make new contributions,” Yang, who is pursuing a doctoral degree in Artificial Intelligence, is steadfast to integrate the school’s historical ethos – “Yan’an roots, military industry souls, and leaders” – into his research, contributing to China’s advancement in the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change.
These diverse examples demonstrate a unified national response: to transform remembrance into resolute action, and to leverage the lessons of the past to build a stronger, more prosperous future.
