Gemini Year of the Horse Greeting: Create a Personalized Song | Lunar New Year 2024

by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

Google’s Gemini application is now offering users in select Asian countries the ability to create personalized musical greetings for the Lunar Modern Year, specifically tailored to the “Year of the Fire Horse.” The feature, launched on February 27, 2026, allows users to generate 30-second songs with custom lyrics and cover art.

The experience is accessible through a banner on the Gemini app’s home screen for users in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, Brunei, and Mongolia. The banner will remain active until March 3, coinciding with the conclude of the Lantern Festival. Users prompted by the banner can tap a “Try it” button to begin.

Gemini guides users through a series of prompts, beginning with the recipient’s name and a personal message. To further personalize the song, users are encouraged to provide details about the recipient’s hobbies and quirks. A final prompt asks for a preferred music genre, offering options including Rock, Ballad, Chinese Classical, R&B, Jazz, Mandopop-Trap, and Luk Thung.

Based on this input, Gemini’s Lyria 3 model synthesizes original lyrics, composes the audio track, and generates cover art featuring traditional red and gold motifs, incorporating dynamic horse imagery intended to reflect the recipient’s personality. The completed greeting can then be exported to messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, WeChat, KakaoTalk, and iMessage.

For users outside the designated regions, or those who prefer a manual approach, a specific prompt can be directly entered into Gemini. The prompt instructs the AI to sequentially request the necessary information – recipient’s name, message, hobbies, and genre preference – before generating the song and artwork, adhering to the traditional color scheme and horse imagery.

The launch of this feature highlights Google’s continued investment in Gemini’s creative capabilities, following recent updates that allow the app to handle multi-step tasks on Android devices and provide enhanced intelligence on Samsung Galaxy S26 devices.
